PDX Rider is a simple app that provides real-time and scheduled arrival information for buses, light rail, streetcar, commuter rail within the Portland area.
Below is a brief description of the 4 main features of PDX Rider -
Arrival List - How to find your stop:
The arrival list contains a listing of stops and arrival times nearest to your location. The range can be changed by tapping on the range value in the upper right corner of the arrival list screen.
The route number is displayed at the beginning of each route description along with a direction and distance indicator to the stop for the route. Clicking on the stop number will show the stop selected on the map view so that an unfamiliar stop may be easily found from your current location.
Although many folks do not use or know the stop numbers, theyre included in order to be compatible with text to speech applications for the visually impaired.
Map View:
The map view shows your proximity to all stops within the selected range. Tapping a stop flag will show the stop number, route and direction. The range can be changed by using the plus and minus buttons in the top right corner.
Service Alerts:
When TriMet issues any service disruption alerts, youll receive a notification with the details of the alert - even if PDX Rider is not in use (assuming notifications are enabled in global settings).
Offline Use:
PDX Rider may be used with or without a data-plan from your mobile carrier. If you have a dataplan, real-time arrivals are displayed where available. When youre not using a data-plan, and If a new update is available, it will be downloaded automatically when opening the app if an internet connection is available.
